Slim Haney was founded in 1962 by WB "Slim" Haney. Slim's background in machining came from being a part owner in Production Manufacturing, where he was a salesman for 15 years.
Slim started the company in a small rented building on Sheridan in Tulsa, OK with 2 Brown & Sharpe single spindle screw machines. As the business grew, Slim added New Britain 6 spindle bar machines, a Davenport 5 spindle, 2 Acme 6 spindles, and many other second operations machinery. He also added more employees. In 1970, he moved the company to a new location on South 99th East Ave. in Tulsa and his son, Gene Haney, joined the company. Bob Parrott also came on board at that time and, together with Slim and Gene, molded the company into what it is today.
In 1985 Slim sold the business to his son Gene. Gene was responsible for implementing the CNC Department, which added more employees and other machinery for production. He kept the already-great relationships with present customers, while also adding new ones. Gene promoted Bob Parrott to shop superintendent and together they grew the business to 25 employees and doubled their production.
After 19 years of running the company, Gene decided in 2002 that he was ready to ease out of the business. Newton D. Box II was a former supplier of ferrous and non-ferrous raw stock, and had developed a 25-year friendship with Gene and Bob Parrott. Gene thought highly of Newton's capabilities and offered to sell the company to him.
They closed the deal on July 1, 2004 and Newton became the owner of Slim Haney Machining, Inc. Newton assumed the role of President, and he promoted Bob Parrott to Vice President and Gary Louvar to General Manager. Brian Bakelaar is the Operations Manager, Jack Lassiter is the CNC Manager, Dan McKenzie is the Sales Manager, and John Grisham is the Quality Control Manager.
Since July of 2004, the company has grown rapidly resulting in the need for a larger facility. On March 1, 2006, Slim Haney Manufacturing relocated all of its operations to a new, and much larger, facility with everything under one roof. The new facility, a 20,000 square foot building on three acres, is located at 5615 North Mingo in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ground will be broken for an additional 16,250 square feet of manufacturing space in January, 2008.
